Our research and teaching efforts follow three directions, namely, computers/networks, integrated circuits, and communications/digital signal processing. Research activities in these areas are expected to shape our distinguishing features in media communication, system-on-a-chip, and intelligent space. Among these, media communication stresses the processing techniques of multimedia and the improvement of network performance / security / management. System-on-chip is the research topic in response to a report regarding technical integration and industrial production agendas issued by the National Science Council in February 2002. In that report, chip design and its applications were considered the core of high-tech industry in Taiwan in the future. Finally, the idea of intelligent space on knowledge in computer networks and wireless communications. Students learn to design information systems based on technical skills in networking and media processing
